The gorge the town is named for: 1,386 acres of state natural area along more than five miles of the Wisconsin River corridor, cut into Cambrian sandstone, with some cliffs rising over one hundred feet above the water. The Chapel Gorge Trail is a 1.5-mile loop down to a shoreline beach among rock outcrops. The Cambrian Overlook has a small observation deck, restrooms and drinking water; its parking lot and restrooms are open between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and vehicles parked there must display a Wisconsin state park admission sticker. Other access points are the Crandall Pines lot on River Road, a township boat ramp on River Bay Road that charges its own launch fee, and the city boat landing.

A quarter-mile paved path with views of the river and its sandstone bluffs, free and open to the public, with benches and game tables along it. "Soul of the River," an open-air gallery about the town's history and its connection to the river, was added in 2022. The Tree of Light display stands here from late November into January.

2,200 acres around a narrow lake that reflects a wooded shoreline and cliffs up to 50 feet high. There is a swimming beach, several picnic areas, wooded campsites, summer rentals, a cabin for people with disabilities and an amphitheater. The Seth Peterson Cottage, a 1958 Frank Lloyd Wright design, stands in the park and can be rented overnight.

A small park of pines and sandstone bluffs, with hiking trails, wooded campsites and a picnic and playground area. Open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. year- round; a vehicle admission sticker is required.

The photography studio H.H. Bennett built in 1875 and worked from until his death in 1908. His stereoscopic views of the river gorge are largely what put the Dells on the tourist map. His family kept the business running until 1998, then transferred it to the Wisconsin Historical Society, which opened it as a museum in 2000.
